Who they are at the end is drastically different from who they are at the beginning, but in a way that is entirely appropriate for Nora and Kelli and makes me believe in their happily ever after all the more. The character growth is my favourite part of Crossing Lines. Kelli is still just as loud and brash and Nora is just as brilliant and standoffish as we saw in Blurred Lines, except that they’ve each changed enough to have space for the other in their lives. Can their fledgling relationship stand the heat when some major obstacles come their way? The Characters Things are very good for them until they… aren’t. Nora is learning how to be part of a relationship for the first time in her life and Kelli is back at work, relieved to finally be healed from the shooting that kept her away for so long. Life has settled down for Nora and Kelli after the events of Blurred Lines. You might be able to read it without first reading Blurred Lines, but I wouldn’t recommend it. It felt raw and real and thoughtful.Crossing Lines by KD Williamson is the second book in her Cops and Docs series. Tbh I was surprised by how good this story is, the intensity and maturity is great, the continuation of Kelli and Norma’s story was very grown up… I loved how KD Williamson developed the relationship. Once I’d got it in my head that this was Kelli and Nora, not a different Abby Craden read story, I was a bit bowled away. Or, maybe it’s a good marriage of great writing and a great reader, resulting in something even better.

I’ve heard a few books read by her, and she always does a good job, but I think this is one of her best performances. I LOVE this story… Abby is just brilliant. I found the reader of the first book only just OK, with some irritating vocal ticks… But Abby Craden turns this book into a bit of a masterpiece. I sort of liked the first audio book in the series, but this 2nd installment is a perfect example of how the reader can make a huge difference to how good the experience of ‘reading’ the audio book is.
